Fierce Dance Team
In 2022, I formed my first ever Fierce Images Dance team! The goal is to help dancers build their own unique photographic portfolio, while at the same time, form friendships with other dancers and give back to the community through my 501(c)(3) nonprofit, "ELP Gives Back." This past year we had photo sessions in my fierce studio, my "standard" studio, in the city, and in the rain machine I built. I am so excited for this new team and cannot wait for it to continue and grow in 2023!
2023 FIERCE IMAGES DANCE TEAM!
Hi my name is Maya Martin-Cubbage, I’m 17 years old and I dance at Dawn Crafton Dance Connection. I’ve been dancing for many years and want to dance more through college. I’m on the DCDC competition team and do weekly dance classes. My favorite style is ballet because it’s the foundation for every style. I also love ballroom and jazz. I love being on Erica’s teams, because they are inspirational and bring out the confidence in every member. I’m also a Dance Hope Cure ambassador, which is a cause that supports and spreads awareness to children diagnosed with cancer. When I’m not dancing, I’m most likely working on my school work or planning out my next dance class. I am a teacher at DCDC and it’s always the highlight of my week. I'm an international adoptee from Guatemala and a rising senior at McLean School in Potomac. Unlike others, I like to stay busy 24/7. I’m winner of the 2023 Bethesda Magazine Extraordinary Teen Award and a runner up for the Inspiring Teens Magazine cover. I am excited to be back on Erica’s FIERCE dance team, joining her senior team and a part of her board.
My name is Olivia Luecking, and I am 11 years old. I dance at DCDC and have been dancing for about 8 years. I do lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, jazz, tap, ballet, but my favorite is contemporary/lyrical. I wanted to be on this team because I wanted to help my community by doing something I love. So far it’s been really fun and I’m so excited for the next time we meet! When I’m not dancing, I’m usually with my family and friends or at school. I’m excited to keep dancing for the rest of the year!
My name is Harper Glazer. I am nine years old.I dance at Dawn Crafton Dance Connection. I have been dancing since I am two years old. I do tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, lyrical, and musical theater. My favorite styles are hard to choose, but if I had to, it would be lyrical, tap or hip-hop.I chose to be on the Fierce images dance team because I thought it would be very fun to meet people who dance and spend time with them. I think it’s very important to give back to my community and help others. It is important to be a dance Hope cure ambassador so I can raise awareness about Childhood cancers and scientists can help new treatments be researched. when I am not dancing I like to go horseback riding, but I always want to be dancing! I am excited to spend time with my new dance friends and do things for my community.
Madison Luxenberg has been dancing since she started walking! She is a 14 year old rising freshman at Wootton HS. She dances at Dawn Crafton Dance Connection where she has been for the past 7 years! She loves being a part of the Dance Ambassador Team and meeting new dance friends and participating in non-profit work. Although Madison performs all types of dance, her top 3 favorites are contemporary, sassy jazz and musical theater! Outside of dance, Madison loves snuggling on the couch with her dog Boomer, assisting with Dance Hope Cure and being with her friends!
Dylan Michelle is nine years old and is a dancer at C-Unit Studio. She has been dancing and tumbling for years! She is trained in all styles of dance but particularly loves hip-hop, ballroom, and contemporary. Dylan is incredibly excited to be a part of the Fierce Images Dance Team. She loves being surrounded by such a wonderful community of dancers who exude such thoughtfulness, confidence, and positivity! As part of the Fierce Images Dance Team Dylan is especially excited to be a Dance Hope Cure Ambassador. She loves that Dance Hope Cure combines the art of dance with childhood cancer awareness and advocacy. When she isn’t dancing or doing backflips, Dylan loves reading, writing, and spending time with her friends and family.
Julia Anne is eleven years old and is a dancer at C-Unit Studio. She has been dancing since she was seven years old, and participated in competitive cheer as a flyer before starting her dance career. She is trained in all styles of dance but loves lyrical, jazz, and ballet. Julia feels honored to be a part of the Fierce Images Dance Team and to be surrounded by such a passionate, supportive, and kind group of dancers. Julia loves working with Erica and having her authentic self captured in the beautiful photos Erica takes. Julia is also proud to be a Dance Hope Cure Ambassador as part of the Fierce Images Dance Team. She is dedicated to their mission of funding less-toxic therapies for children with cancer so they can have a better quality of life as they battle the disease. Julia worked with her brother to raise money for cancer for his mitzvah project last year, and hopes to do the same for her own in 2024. When she isn’t dancing, Julia loves photography, and can often be found on the sidewalks of Capitol Hill capturing the beauty of the neighborhood.
Gianna Fiora is 9 years old and attends St. Elizabeth Catholic School in Rockville, MD. She has been dancing since the age of 3 and currently dances at Dawn Crafton Dance Connection. She studies and competes in all forms of dance and particularly enjoys lyrical/contemporary. Gianna is thrilled to be a part of Erica's Fierce Dance Team where she can volunteer at community events and make new friends along the way. When she is not dancing she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and beloved Goldendoodle, Layla.
In 2016, I founded a dance photography business, "Fierce Images," (www.fierceimages.com). Fierce Images was original inspired by my children who are dancers, to capture creative dance photography, with the goal of capturing each dancer's individual artistic expression, as opposed to the standard dance recital photo. Soon after, Fierce Images expanded to include all forms of sports---football, baseball, basketball, etc!
I photograph teens and seniors in my home studio, with dramatic lighting and a reflective floor that you see in these images. My goal is to capture the inner strength within the subjects I photograph, and make them feel fierce and motivated to pursue their dreams.
